Update on RISE UP Clinical Program

From the offices of Brian Goff, Chief Executive Officer, Agios, and Sarah Gheuens, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Medical Officer and Head of R&D, Agios

Dear All,

We are reaching out to share an important update on our RISE UP clinical trial program. We enrolled the last patient in the Phase 3 study, thus completing enrollment of this clinical trial.  Available here is a link to the press release we just issued announcing this news.

This milestone could not have been reached without your instrumental support and partnership. Over the course of this trial’s enrollment, we’ve learned so much from sickle cell disease advocates like yourself, as well as the patient community we all serve.

From the beginning, our rule has been to listen to the community for guidance and input on what it is like to live with sickle cell disease and how that experience impacts a person’s ability to participate in a clinical trial. By following the community’s advice, we were able to co-design a protocol for the RISE UP clinical trial program that minimized participant burden as much as possible, while simultaneously ensuring we collected the evidence needed for regulatory assessment.

Additionally, we appreciated the opportunity to partner with Warriors on the development of the RISE UP clinical trial awareness campaign. The community had an overwhelmingly positive response to the campaign, as demonstrated by both the feedback we received and the more than three million online views of the RISE UP Warrior videos.

Again, thank you for your collaboration and advice. You have our commitment to continue to provide a seat at the table for patients, so their voices can truly be heard.

We look forward to completing the Phase 3 RISE UP study and sharing results from the trial with you when they are released, which we anticipate being late next year.

There’s still a way to go, but we will get there together.

Sincerely,

Brian Goff,

Chief Executive Officer, Agios
